		<description>Regarding Art’s top ten songs:
Art, thanks for sharing. . . . Seriously, thanks. Your top ten reads like a confession -- so personal. Much like the way you reveal your heart (and occasionally your a*s) in your own brilliant songwriting.
Your list confirmed my previous assumption that we have musical roots in a lot of the same soil. Curious, I looked up your birth date and wasn’t surprised to find my own year. (I’m four months behind you chronologically, but we all know it’s not the years, it’s the mileage. . . .)
My top ten? I’ve tried and failed to limit the list, and I shudder at the prospect of actually trying to rank them, but today’s version looks like:
       Jimi Hendrix: Little Wing
The Staple Singers: I’ll Take You There
       Eric Clapton: Layla
Elton John: Bennie &#38; the Jets
       David Bowie: Young Americans
       Stevie Wonder: Higher Ground
       Squeeze: Tempted
       Elvis Costello: Motel Matches
The Jackson Five: I Want You Back
       The Rolling Stones: Tumbling Dice
(A longer list would include Bill Withers, Sly &#38; the Family Stone, Steely Dan, Marvin Gaye, and of course my latest indulgence, Everclear.)
I’m fairly new to the Everclear/Alexakis audience, but for what it's worth, I think you've crafted an impressive body of work, and I wish you inspiration for all the stuff that's still simmering in your head.
And by the way, a big debt of gratitude for Thrift Store Chair. And for employing the word *diminishing* brilliantly.
